DRAA FIELD POND
TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA

The Draa Field Pond was completely covered over with floating and emergent nuisance vegetation during 2019 and 2020.  The City mechanically removed 49,250.42 pounds of biomass in early 2021.  According to a report by ECT, that harvest removed 785.56 pounds of nitrogen and 98.69 pounds of phosphorus from the pond.    In April 2021, we introduced 6,500 square feet of Beemats floating wetlands to the pond.  Due to the nutrient and biomass harvest,  the plants on the islands were growing slowly at  first,  but they are now starting to expand as nutrients re-enter the pond from its drainage basin.
